Have you ever been with a group of friends or family and someone will comment about how bad things are?. It could be something simple like the weather, a political situation, a health challenge or a tragic event. And before for you know it, everyone has chimed in, sharing other bad things. I call it having an “Ain’t It Awful Party.” The negativity isn’t intentional. It is mostly unconscious. However, no good ever comes from it. It doesn’t change the situation. In fact, the negativity actually contributes energetically to its continuation and everyone feels the worse for it. This is the impetus for the creation of the Holy Order of Perpetual Gratitude; a group of conscious individuals focused on positive personal and planetary transformation at an energetic level.
To this end, members of the order commit to pausing at least four times a day to remember what they are truly grateful for. How? Setting the alarm on your cell phone for 9am, 12noon, 6 pm and 9pm to pause for just a moment to remember how grateful you are for all the blessings of life. For early risers or night owls, you can add additional reminders. If you live in an Islamic country where you can hear the daily call to prayer by the muezzin five times a day, feel free to use this as your gratitude reminder instead of your phone alarm.
Consider the various parts of your life: Spiritual, Physical, Financial, Relationships, Health. There may be many things in each of these areas that you are unhappy with and want to change, but as you look around and compare yourself to others, you may come to realize how truly blessed you are. It is focusing on those blessings that alters your frequency and gradually changes your life and contributes to the greater good of all.
